FREE Scary Halloween Spider Crochet Pattern
PEACH UNICORN DESIGNS
Instructions on how to crochet this super scary spider to decorate your home this Halloween.
Materials Needed
* Scheepjes Catona Cotton 4 ply yarn1 x 10g Ball of Anthracite #501
* 3mm Crochet Hook (US D/3)
* Tapestry Needle
* Toy Stuffing
* 2 x Pipe Cleaners (Colour of your spider)
Stitch Directory

Ch - Chain Stitch
Sc - Single Crochet
Inc - Increase (Do 2 sc in next stitch)
Dec2tog - Decrease (Sc the next two stitches together)
Rnd - Round
Pattern Notes
* No tension gauge is required.
* Finished Spider size - 4 x 4 inches (10cm x 10cm) when flat.
* Pattern is written using US terminology.
* Pattern is suitable for a beginner.
* The Spider is made up in continuous rounds. Mark the 1st stitch on each round with a stitch marker to ensure you do not lose your place.
*PLEASE NOTE: This spider is designed as a decoration, not as a toy, but if you want a toy, make up without the pipe cleaners.
Stitch Conversion (If needed)
US to UK/Australia terms
(US) Single Crochet (Sc) same as (UK) Double Crochet (Dc)
MAIN PATTERN
Spider's Body - Anthracite #501
Using a Magic circle start, Sc6Rnd 1 - (Inc, Sc1) 3 times (9)
Rnd 2 - (Inc, Sc2) 3 times (12)
Rnd 3 - (Inc, Sc3) 3 times (15)
Rnd 4 - Sc in all (15)
Rnd 5 - (Dec2tog, Sc3) 3 times (12)
Rnd 6 - (Dec2tog, Sc2) 3 times (9),
Stuff the body at this point.
Rnd 7 - (Dec2tog, Sc1) 3 times (6)
Rnd 8 to 14 - Repeat rounds 1-7 once more
Fasten off, weave the tail through the last 6 stitches and pull to close. Secure the end.
Leg (make 8) - Anthracite #501
Ch9, working in 2nd chain from the hook.
Row 1 - Sc8, ch1, turn.
Row 2 - Sc8
Fasten off.
* Cut the pipe cleaners into 8 x 5cm pieces.
* Wrap each leg around a 5cm pipe cleaner, it will cover ¾ of the
pipe cleaner.
* Place 4 legs on each side of the spider’s body,
(leaving the other bump of the body untouched), by pushing
the exposed part of the pipe cleaner into the spider’s body and
sewing the legs into place.
* Secure all ends.
Underneath of the spider.
Eyes - Optional
Add eights knots to the top of the Spider’s body, level to the 1st and 2nd set of legs, in a darker yarn shade to your spider,
(I used Black, but I think it was too dark, maybe a darker grey would have been better)
